@kriptongt500 He was implying that the design hadn't dated well. That said if you watch Clarkson's 90s review of the Ford Probe, he comments at how 'pretty' the Calibra is. It's really just trends - give it a couple of years and the VW will seem dated and unattractive while the Calibra and the Probe will be praised for looking streamlined and ahead of their time.
and how he says martin brundle complemented its chassis, in the newer episode of top gear he says that martin brundle never said any such thing, what can you believe anymore on that show
Its funny how Hammond likes the Cosworth Mercedes but in a recent cheap car challenge he declared his hatred for it

This turned out to be true of the Merc, but I'm yet to see the VW anywhere.
